Software Engineer (C/C++, System programming)
Job Summary
CPE is a global function and handles engineering level customer escalations across the product and solution landscape. CPE teams are involved in detecting and fixing customer problems, contributing to improving product quality, supportability and adding critical customer features. CPE teams are often seen bridging the gap between support and Engineering, communicating at executive level, senior technical leaders, support personnel and the customers.
Job Requirements
- Solid programming knowledge and experience in C/C++ coding and debugging.
- Experience in the areas such as File Systems, Storage, System/Kernel Programming, Data Protection/Replication, Disaster Recovery, Clustered filesystems and/or Cloud computing.
- Strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and standard programming practices.
- Experience in handling customer issues, identification of supportability/automation opportunities, contribution to product feature development is preferred.
- Experience in Core-dump/Crash-dump analysis using GDB is an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Develop longer-range project plans and schedules for individual or work for a small team.
- Successfully convey information to stakeholders at many levels related to the position- Work effectively with senior engineers within Business Unit.
- Critical and/or high visibility customer support
- Limited supervision and direction are provided, as this individual can operate, drive results and set priorities independently.
Education
- A minimum of 4 - 8 years of experience is required.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Master degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience is required.
