Job Summary
As Solutions Engineering Manager, you are responsible for directing all aspects of the pre-sales organisation within the defined region. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Partner and Alliances, Marketing and Product BU to bring our innovative solutions to market and achieve revenue targets. Your passion for technology, strategic thinking and focus on customer-centric outcomes is essential. You will lead by example, foster a winning culture and motivate your team to do great things.
You develop long-term strategies and shorter-term plans to meet aggressive performance goals. You must be extremely results-driven, customer-focused, technologically savvy, and skilled at building internal relationships and external partnerships.
Job Requirements
The overall responsibilities of the Solutions Engineering Manager are to provide management oversight to Solutions Engineers and for growth and development of the function including selecting, hiring and developing results-oriented professional employees. Specific areas of responsibility include:
- Lead, coach and motivate your team, creating a culture of high performance, collaboration and of ‘always-learning’
- Develop and provide oversight to your team’s professional development
- Establish and monitor performance goals for your team in collaboration with Sales Leadership
- Evangelise NetApp’s innovative solutions and products to Customers and Partners. Where appropriate, participate in Industry trade events.
- Analyse market trends and competitor behaviour and provide feedback to Sales Leadership and Product Management
- Participate in sales campaigns. Be an Active Leader and operate as a business partner to Sales and be an active contributor to the Leadership Team helping grow business through leading initiatives beyond the specific scope of Presales.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions with the Sales Management team on a quarterly and annual basis to create a local sales and marketing plan to drive revenue.
- Accountable for the retention of key talent and hiring and on boarding of new employees
- Keep senior management informed of key issues and changes that may impact on expected business results
Skills And Education Required
- A Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is required; a Graduate Degree is preferred but not essential.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience as an individual contributor and 1 to 5 years as a people manager is required.
- Experience which demonstrates a significant level of expertise in technical specifications required to sell NetApp products and services is necessary.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with employees within the department and across functions.
- Must have an aptitude for understanding how technology products and solutions solve business problems.
- Ability to convey information clearly and provide analysis as needed to help customers make buying decisions.
