Job Summary

As a Software Engineer you will work as part of a team responsible for participating in the development, testing and debugging of operating systems and file systems that run NetApp storage applications. In this specific job, you will be a member of the Performance Engineering product development team. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market Software engineers focus on enhancements to existing products as well as new product development. The Performance Engineering product development team develops new innovations in the core 1/0 path explicitly targeted at improving ONTAP's performance when deployed into various cloud environments including FSXn, GCNV, CVO and OCI

Job Responsibilities

•    Develop a strong technical understanding of NetApp’s existing data management and storage solutions in the Cloud, their interdependencies, and limitations.
•    Participate in all phases of the product development cycle including product design and development, test automation, debugging and support, and supporting resolution of impactful customer issues.
•    Continuously monitor, analyze, and measure system health, availability, and latency using Google native tooling. Develop and implement steps to improve system and application performance, availability, and reliability.
•    Stay up to date with security trends and proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve complex security issues.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features and deliver performance requirements
•    Engage in incident management processes and resolve issues within agreed SLAs/SLOs and expected to be on Call rotations.
•    Handle unstructured tasks and conducting research to convert vague/undefined requirements into clearly articulated ones.
•    Operate under limited supervision and direction, as this individual can operate, drive results and set priorities independently.

Job Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
•    5+ years of hands-on experience in software development and cloud engineering.
•    Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C/C++, Python and focused primarily on the OS and Filesystems, Kernel levels deeper insights
•    Strong hands-on operational knowledge in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or OCI).
•    Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, services, and best practices.
•    Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
•    Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills, and collaboration skills are a must.
•    Ability to work with limited supervision and operate and drive results independently.

Education

IC - Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience.Mgr & Exec - Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience.

Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 130,900 - 194,700 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. The range is based on 'On Target Earnings’ (OTE) representing the total potential earnings, which is the sum of the base salary and potential commission earned when performance targets are achieved. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off, various Leave options, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s). These offerings are subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies.
