JOB SUMMARY

As a Commercial Solutions Engineer at NetApp, you will combine deep infrastructure expertise with strong discovery, engaging storytelling, and a passion for technical sales. You will help customers connect technology decisions to business outcomes while building relationships that create new opportunities. This senior role partners with multiple Commercial Account Managers (CAM) across a broad portfolio of customers and prospects. Commercial is a key driver of new customer acquisition at NetApp, and you will often shape a customer’s first experience with our team and technology. Expect a fast-paced mix of discovery, presentations, solution design, configurations, and technical validation as you help win new business and expand existing relationships. You will own the technical sales engagement, proactively develop customer and partner relationships, and bring ideas that move opportunities forward. Success takes curiosity, initiative, sound judgment, and enthusiasm for selling.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Partner with sales counterparts (CAM's) to develop territory strategies, qualify opportunities, build pipeline, and win new and existing customer business.
  • Lead discovery to uncover business priorities, infrastructure challenges, decision criteria, and reasons to act.
  • Deliver compelling presentations, whiteboarding sessions, and demonstrations that connect technical capabilities to customer value.
  • Build your own trusted relationships with customer technical teams, channel partners, and partner Solutions Engineers through proactive outreach and ongoing engagement.
  • Design, position, and configure NetApp storage and data infrastructure solutions spanning SAN, NAS, block, file, hybrid cloud, and data protection.
  • Guide technical buying decisions by addressing objections, differentiating against alternatives, and defining clear validation plans and success criteria.
  • Manage concurrent customer meetings, configurations, technical evaluations, and quoting support with accuracy, responsiveness, and clear priorities.
  • Collaborate with partners and NetApp specialists to advance opportunities and deliver strong customer outcomes.
  • Identify modernization, cyber resiliency, and expansion opportunities within existing accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years in technical presales, solutions engineering, systems engineering, or a customer-facing infrastructure role, with demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions and customer outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure and how systems are designed, integrated, operated, and protected. Storage or storage-adjacent experience is highly valued, including virtualization, compute, networking, and backup and recovery.
  • Strong infrastructure fundamentals are essential. NetApp expertise can be learned; familiarity with SAN, NAS, block, and file architectures is preferred.
  • A sales mindset: you enjoy uncovering needs, communicating value, navigating objections, and helping customers reach buying decisions.
  • Excellent discovery, communication, and storytelling skills, with the ability to engage technical and business audiences.
  • Initiative to build technical relationships independently and collaborate effectively with sales teams and channel partners.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into practical solutions, explain tradeoffs, and connect recommendations to business outcomes.
  • Organization and judgment to support multiple sales partners and opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A curious, energetic, accountable approach and a commitment to winning as a team.
