Enterprise Solutions Engineer (Sales Engineer / Presales) – Northern Virginia

This position has no office requirement. However, it supports enterprise customers in the Northern Virginia region and works closely with a Client Executive based in the same territory. Candidates must be located in Northern Virginia to effectively support in-person customer meetings, partner engagements, and regional presence.

JOB SUMMARY

We’re looking for a Senior Enterprise Solutions Engineer to support a focused set of strategic enterprise accounts across Northern Virginia. This is a high-touch, consultative presales role where you’ll partner with an experienced Enterprise Client Executive who has deep, long-standing relationships with some of the region’s most sophisticated customers. You’ll be the technical lead on complex, multi-million dollar storage and infrastructure deals with six to nine month sales cycles, leading technical discovery, architecting solutions, and guiding customers through hybrid cloud transformations and data modernization initiatives.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Serve as the dedicated technical lead and trusted advisor for high-value enterprise accounts in Northern Virginia
  • Partner closely with your aligned Enterprise Client Executive to develop account strategy, build pipeline, and drive multi-million dollar deal progression
  • Lead in-depth technical discovery and requirements gathering sessions with IT leadership, storage architects, and business stakeholders
  • Design and present comprehensive data storage and hybrid infrastructure solutions leveraging the full NetApp portfolio: ONTAP, SAN, NAS, block and file storage, hybrid cloud, and data protection technologies
  • Facilitate quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with customers, presenting portfolio updates, identifying expansion opportunities, and advising on strategic next steps
  • Collaborate with NetApp’s specialist solutions architect team to bring deep technical expertise into complex customer engagements
  • Work hand-in-hand with channel partners and their presales teams to align on technical strategy, support deal execution, and ensure customer success
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies, proactively bringing innovation to customer conversations
  • Be responsive, accessible, and accountable, these customers expect engagement, expertise, and follow-through
  • Execute with discipline: manage your forecast, track opportunities, and close deals on time

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of experience in technical presales, sales engineering, or solutions engineering roles supporting enterprise infrastructure
  • Strong experience with enterprise storage technologies or storage-adjacent infrastructure is required, such as block storage, file storage, SAN, NAS, virtualization, backup/recovery, or hybrid cloud architectures
  • Proven track record working with Fortune 500 or large enterprise customers on complex, long-cycle storage or infrastructure deals
  • Strong technical expertise in data center infrastructure, hybrid cloud architectures, virtualization platforms, disaster recovery, and data protection solutions
  • Experience translating technical storage capabilities into business outcomes and ROI for executive audiences
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to command the room during customer and partner meetings
  • Strong work ethic and execution mindset, you thrive when there’s a clear plan, and you’re relentless about following through
  • Consultative, relationship-driven approach; you understand that long-term customer success is built on trust and availability
  • Self-directed and accountable; you take ownership of your accounts and don’t need to be micromanaged
  • Comfortable working through channel partners and enabling their technical teams
